Ok, so I was being grumpy about Christmas and Denise was kind enough to remind me that when I'm grumpy, all I'm doing is ruining everyone else's good spirit. And, on the way home today, I listened to a Christmas song. Breakthrough for me! I decided to have the kids help me decorate the tree, and since they'd be pulling everything off it anyway, I decided we would just put their toys on it, so when they pulled them all off they weren't hurting anything. Ta da!

Amy, this really is a breakthrough for you! Congrad's on listening to your first Christmas song of the season...just remember how special Christmas can be for kids. I remember loving that mom would turn on Christmas music and they would let us decorate the house and tape up the Christmas cards we recieved. There's a feeling that came from that time of year in our house growing up-excitement, joy & most importantly- love for eachother. I have a feeling you may get this 'ba-humm bug' attitude from a certain someone in our family...maybe that's why we started 'homemade Christmas' as kids. This can be a great time for your kids to have some very special family memories...keep up the great 'holiday spirit'!
Toys on the tree.... brilliant!! When you pick up the living room, now it just goes on the tree rather than all the way down the hall to another room. Brilliant. And it's nice to hear that Archer's boyish instincts are coming along nicely. Way to go Archer.
Hi Amy, I read your blog site tonight as the snow blows and the rain hits the window.
I love your Christmas tree- what a clever idea using the kid's toys. A wonderful idea. Your little Shelly sounds lots like our new puppy Sadie. She is always underfoot and she loves to play rough with Pete. She is this black little bear who has lots of energy.
We are enjoying her lots. She can be so funny.
Shelly is growing so fast. I had no idea she had 7 teeth- Wow! Hopefully we will see you over the holidays. Maybe I will try to drive down to Milwaukee while we are on xmas break. I would love to spend time with your family. My own kids will not be here that week. Matt and Nicole are saving their money so they can go to see Thad in March-spring break, Thad and Mel will have her parents visit Utah during the holidays, and Lisa and John will take a trip to the west coast during the holidays. I miss them all so much. It will be a long winter with them all so far away. You truly are blessed to have your mom and dad so close so they can help with the kids. It does take a village to raise kids today ! Well enough rambling. Keep writing-we love hearing about the kids. Love you alllllll lots. Aunt Patti
