Yet another bad influence in my kids' lives...

I don't know what it is but it sure looks tasty!

A quote from Archer regarding a childhood drink that I've never seen an adult drink - Sunny D, formerly known as Sunny Delight. I try to keep crap out of our house, I could try harder (we still buy cereal loaded with sugar, hot dogs, canned fruit, and don't even get me started on the Diet Coke problem we have) but I draw the line at Sunny D. That and koolaid - sugar water with neon food coloring added.

Ingredients of Sunny D: Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, and 2% or Less of Each of the Following...

Need I say more? Water and high fructose corn syrup? I call that water mixed with crap. And yet, somehow a can of it ended up in our fridge and I couldn't bring myself to just throw it away, after all that would be wasting, right? Wasting crap? Ugh. I should have just thrown it away. Now my kids are drinking it.

So WHY are they bouncing off the walls at 8:00 at night when they should be tired?

I try to keep the junk out of my house, too, though a few things are allowed in - because they are so tasty! I have a Diet Dr. Pepper addiction myself, and though I'm quite sure I'm pickling myself from the inside out, I still drink it without too much remorse. I think my two biggest pet peeves are fruit snacks and gum. Fruit snacks are candy. I don't care if they do have vitamin C in them. And gum is just a useless icky habit to pick up. Neither of those items make it into our house very often. My poor deprived children. ;)

I do have to say that I find Sunny D to be absolutely disgusting! I mean, if they're going to put all that sugar in it, they could at least make it taste good. The thickness of it is disturbing, and it burns going down. (Well, so does Diet Dr. Pepper, but somehow that's ok!)

My kids actually really like V8 Fusion, which is a 100% juice drink that tastes fruity but provides a serving of fruit and a serving of vegetables in every glass. They also eat (and ask often for) Triscuits. I also make homemade jello jigglers. It uses fruit juice instead of whatever is in those little bright boxes.

Just don't take away my Diet Dr. Pepper.
